Zinc borate 2335 (chemical formula: 2ZnO·3B₂O₃·3.5H₂O), with a molecular weight of 434.62, is a white crystalline powder inorganic flame retardant.

Its core features include:

Triple flame retardant mechanism: above 320 ℃, crystal water is released to absorb heat and cool down, forming a borate glass layer for oxygen and heat insulation. When combined with halogen/halogen-free flame retardants, it catalyzes and inhibits the combustion chain reaction.

Environmental safety: halogen-free, non-toxic, and free of heavy metals, complying with domestic and international standards such as RoHS, REACH, and GB/T 23669. The smoke toxicity level during combustion reaches ZA1 level (GB/T 20285).

Wide adaptability: fine particle size (D50=3-5 μ m), excellent dispersibility, suitable for various processes such as injection molding, extrusion, coating, etc., with an impact on material mechanical properties of less than 5%.

Electronic appliances: 15% zinc borate 2335+10% brominated epoxy resin is added to ABS (television casing), with a flame retardant rating of UL94 V-0 (1.6mm), and has passed the 125 ℃ ball pressure test, meeting the IEC 62368 safety standard.

Automotive industry: In PP (bumper), it is compounded with magnesium hydroxide in a ratio of 1:4, with a total addition of 45%. The bending modulus retention rate of the material is 92%, and the combustion rate is ≤ 100mm/min (tested according to GB/T 2408).

Wire and cable: Replace 30% antimony trioxide in PVC insulation layer, add 12% zinc borate 2335, reduce smoke density by 55%, increase oxygen index to 34%, pass GB/T 17651.2 smoke density test.

Industrial rubber parts: Adding 8% to nitrile rubber (NBR) seals improves oil resistance (120 ℃ × 72h volume change rate ≤ 15%) and flame retardancy (vertical combustion V-1 level) synchronously, making it suitable for petrochemical scenes.

Steel structure fireproof coating: used as the main flame retardant (with an added amount of 25%) for ultra-thin coatings. When the coating thickness is 1.5mm, the fire resistance limit can reach 1.5 hours, and the surface resistivity is greater than 1 × 10 ¹² Ω (defined in GB/T 5907.1)

Wood plastic composite (WPC): add 10% in the PVC/wood flour system, the combustion grade reaches GB 8624 B1, and the anti-aging performance (color difference △ E ≤ 3 after 500h UV aging) increases by 30%.

Lithium battery flame retardant: dispersing 2% nano-sized zinc borate 2335 in electrolyte additives can delay the thermal runaway temperature of the battery by 20 ℃ and self extinguishing time<5s (UL 94 V-0 level).

Aerospace materials: Adding 5% to epoxy resin based composite materials, the smoke production (SPR ≤ 0.05m ²/s) and toxicity (CO generation ≤ 500ppm) during combustion meet FAR 25.853 standards.
